From Jct of Hwy-54 & Hwy 83, E 5 mi on Hwy 54 (R)
We stayed in this park last night, it was gloriously quiet! They have a lot of full hook ups and the spaces are a good size and are pull thru, which is just wonderful. The park was super clean, and the staff (Nancy) was so nice and helpful. Once they finish construction, it’ll be a breeze to get there. We’d definitely stay here again.
If you can get past the evening stench that comes with being downwind of the large packing plant, the city water treatment plant, and the county landfill, bustled together just a few miles away, or the mile long train wistling across the highway every night, it really is a nice gravel pit style RV park with plenty of pull through spots that could be comfortable with the lower rate that comes with one of the few metered extended stay lots. Of corse, that gets undercut slightly by the 20 cent per kilowatt-hour rate on the electricity. If you have to leave without being able to meet the owners to pay your electricity, I was told it was an additional charge for manually inputing your card number, which I attempted to avoid knowing there was already a charge for using a credit card. All this I tried to avoid by giving notice the night before I was to pull out on somewhat short notice from my employer. Leaving a day earlier than expected won't have any sympathy on reimbursement, as well you'll get tacked on a full day of electricity based on your average use of your previous bill since there's no way to know where your meter will be sitting when you pull out or if you'll even be leaving at the time (6am) you say you will. The great thing about all of that is that the owner insists that that "makes us square."
I would have imagined the "square" thing to do would say, "Oh, don't worry about that little extra electricity. You're paid up for another day anyway." or even, "Hey, we'll round the electricity to another day and refund the night you don't need."
There are only a couple of other parks to stay at in that town, but they aren't as nice looking. They do, however, charge a good amount less than this one. If I have to work in Liberal again, I'll not give Western Star RV Ranch a single thought.
Clean, easy to get in and out of, and consistent. Nancy is always friendly and accomodating. This is always a safe, easy place to stay when we are visiting our farm close by. They even have an excellent shelter for brief summer storms and those scary spring time thunderstorms.
Just spent one night passing through in our camper van, so I tend to look for shower amenities. I found ample space that was private and clean. Very friendly staff as well that gave us detailed instructions on which route to travel to avoid the dirt roads. Would recommend!!
