Beautiful scenery, it'd be great for camping but the fishing absolutely sucks! Everything we caught was too small to keep!
I had a couple of great visits within a week. First, I visited for a couple nights of winter camping in during the cold snap of January, 2024. I was able to find a good campsite that was sheltered from the worse of the cold wind by some trees, and the site had some good picnic tables. A week later I came back and did some ice fishing as the ice on the lake was about 6 inches thick.
One of if not THE best state fishing lakes. E-biking into Rock City and the town of Minneapolis KS (Shout out Gene's heartland grocery) was a great way to start the day and the fishing in my little float tube was EXCEPTIONAL along the dam. For fishing and biking enthusiasts especially if you're a car camper this one is a must see.
Best camping experience I've had in years!!! To find a Kansas lake that actually had water in September is a miracle!! I will definitely be packing up and heading that way again in the future!!
