Love this place it's like a family of friends ! Only thing it's a little on the smokey side until they turn on smoke eaters ,but cheapest place to drink in town and this post does as lot for our veterans and schools !

My husband Dale and me drive from Gatesville to the American Legion Post because we enjoy it there so much. A very cosy and friendly atmosphere all the time. 👍🌹🌹🌹

We're retired military and my husband is 100% Disabled. We thought we would stop by the American Legion and RV Park in Whitney Texas. We assumed, based upon the billboard "Vets caring for Vets," that it would be in tip top shape (like the military)! Boy were we wrong. The RV Park itself has been totally destroyed. The restrooms were gutted by dope fiends, and now the door has a chain and padlock on it. There are some good, but poor vets living there, paying $330 per month for a bare bones back-in RV site. No one residing there are retired military. When we called, we were told the monthly RV Site fee was $400. The water hook-ups are residential spigots, not RV Park spigots. The park has weeds and stickers overgrown throughout. This is a no amenities RV Park. No showers, no bathrooms, no laundry, no wifi.... just a dirt and grass back-in spot; a sewer port, and electric with 30/50 amp. Mud puddles everywhere. The sites are unlevel too. You can't take your dogs out because of the stickers everywhere. The RVs there vary in age from Katrina-era FEMA travel trailer, to 20-30 year old 5th wheels. In other words, they don't care how old your RV is. We saw an RV license plate which expired in 2012. My number one question is: where is all of the money from the bar and RV Park going? At $3 per beer, and open to the public, fully equipped with bar flies, and 10 AM drunks; it's making money. It certainly isn't being used to improve the RV Park. The American Legion is supposed to be a Veteran Service Organization. Are they helping veterans? The Post Commander Darrell should really step up and accept responsibility. We were horrified to see this RV Park. My advice; if you're a veteran and looking for an RV Park to rest at, don't ever, ever stop here. The RV Park is way worse than the picture shows.

I remember when I was little my grandfather would take me with and as I got older I continued to go. The American Legion Post 522 is family friendly and I love it. I have two teenagers that everyone knows in there. Its amazing!!!

They sent out Vets to play Taps & fold the flag at my Dad's Funeral- even when the VA needed more time & paperwork. They do good things, here.
