From Kopperl, TX, travel north on HWY 56 for approximately 2.5 miles. Turn right on HWY 174 and go approximately 2.3 miles. Turn left into the park, just before the HWY 174 bridge. From Cleburne, TX, travel south on HWY 174 for 22 miles. Turn right into the park after you cross the HWY 174 bridge.
Currently here in the sweltering heat. Just moved to a shady spot with the assistance of the park host (wonderful lady) Well pump is fried!! No water pressure currently. We are the only two campers here, shame as it is a nice park.
Very pretty small park on the banks of the Brazos. Sites are pretty level & most have shade. Nothing fancy, as this park would flood if the river was very high. A little road noise, as the highway is beside the park.
We enjoyed our family camping trip! We learned the hard way to take extra covers because it gets cold at night. The bathrooms were always kept clean. The area is very nice and secluded. You will have a hard time getting a cell phone signal if you use T-Mobile. Overall, we had a lot of fun. We are looking forward to staying here again in the Spring.
I've been camping here dozens of times in the past which has been great, however this time not so much.
This time just disrespectful campers all around. I have two dogs. One md size mutt and one German shepherd mix. The people next to me had a PIT BULL ( no leash or chain) and just let there dog roam around while mine where in there outside kennel/ fence area.
I don't trust those dogs off leash. Then they also as well as 3 other sites next to us blaring music and partying until early morning. ( I'm all down for having fun) but other dogs as well as mine bark8ng allllllll night long and I have to wake up at 4am to go hunting. So not enjoyable.
STILL gave 4 stars 🌟 because it is usually a very nice campground and very clean usually when the grass is cut
It's 26 a night. The boat ramp was closed, The beach had dead fish carcasses on the shoreline. A lot of them! The shoreline also wasn't suitable for walking around the river. There was no security in the park. I only saw a person driving around after checkout time. Thee bathroom/showers didn't have lights inside for night time.
There was really nothing do do but hangout on your campsite. The campsites also were right next to the highway. We rented a spot for 2 nights, the next day everyone cleared out so we were the only tent goers and there were just a few trailers on other side. At sundown a helicopter started circling the woods behind us, like they were looking for someone, ......with no security, we packed up and didn't stay the 2nd night. Don't think I will return either.
