About Campground

South Padre Island Beach is open to camping from Beach Access #5 and Beach Access #6 to any point north. During the on season Padre Island camping access by vehicle is $12 to enter, regardless of the length of stay. Offseason is free (from autumn until spring break). The first several miles are accessible by 2 wheel drive vehicles and RV’s. Miles 5-24 usually accessible by 4x4 only. Fires, pets, and fishing are allowed. There are no amenities, cell service can be spotty, and it is recommended to be aware of tides and weather conditions. The beach is patrolled by beach patrol and sea turtle patrol, and it is a favorite destination for windsurfing and dolphin watching. There is a large dumpster at the beach access to empty trash on leaving, and showers/restrooms at Beach Access #5.

I love being able to park on the beach. The pricing was reasonable at Access 5. They offer military discount. The water was perfect! A lot of calming waves and a good tide for family fun. The bathrooms and showers were clean. If you want snacks or floaties, there are vans driving up and down the beach offering what you'd like. If you're looking for a secluded area, go during the week because there's less people. However, on the weekend, there was ALOT of people, music, food, dogs, and just good old family fun.

White beach, blue water, free boondocking, fishing, swimming, beach combing, etc lots of winter Texan snowbirds in January. Everything was great except some people drive too fast on the beach! The county police do come by regularly. About 14 dollars per car entry, 5 for Vets. Clean beach. Please pack out the trash you bring. Watch your pets and kids as beach drivers can be dangerous. No porta potties on beach. Must drive back to Atwood park entrance. Free outdoor showers. This is a sea turtle nesting area. Please stay off the dunes and report sea turtle sitings. See photo.

Best spot to go if your looking to drive your truck/vehicle on the beach. Restroom and showers in walking distance, a large pavilion to sit under. You can also park and walk right out to the water, $12 access charge. This is place that I must stop every trip I take to Texas its so beautiful. During the spring and summer time they usually have food trucks driving through selling hot and cold items

We had a great time , the beach was clean , no broken seashells!! I love the return the trash bag and get a refund!! Helps with keeping the area clean!! Great for the environment!! A+ on that !!! We will be back to visit!
