Beautiful place!!! Hike wasn't easy, gotta pay $100 per person for the guides. They are very knowledgeable and take you through the safe passage. They gave us spiked chains for our shoes and it was super helpful when we were walking through the ice.

My first time walking on a glacier and trust it me it was out of the world. Our guide was super sweet and took guided the tour really well. The view is superb , if you never seen a glacier from this close you must do this for sure. It was a 2.5 hour long tour, which included walking on different accessible parts of Matanuska Glacier.

One thing to keep in mind though , it’s pretty touristy and can get crowded on long weekends. Dress up in warm clothes and wear bright colors for good pictures :).

STUNNING, even in the winter. You have to take a guided tour, but they have special pricing for Alaskan residents and military. It gets super cold out there on the glacier though, so dress accordingly. I wish you could explore it all on your own, but it’d be pretty dangerous. It’s worth the tour though.

Not worth the money. The tour guide was quite passive, probably because we booked the final shift at the very last moment. The views were gorgeous, but we only got less than 2hrs for the roundtrip, which is quite short. Definitely book a morning/afternoon tour for most benefit.

I would highly recommend taking a tour of Matanuska Glacier; we took a private tour with Nova Alaska guides and had an incredible experience. We got to walk on and explore the glacier, as well as do ice climbing. The glacier is breathtaking and being on it is an unforgettable experience.
