A beautiful, scenic and historical place to visit. I’ao valley have several trails . There’s a paved short trail loop that’s 0.4 mile that brings you to the valley overlook and down to the gardens and ponds. There is another trail that’s unpaved and leads you to the forest vegetation, water creek and amazing view of the valley. The I’ao needle is inside the state park. The needle is a vegetation covered lava remnant which has a sharp ridge. Theres a lot of Hawaiian historical significance that took place in this area. There’s a $5 per person entry plus $10 per car to park. You can avoid the parking fee if you’re lucky enough to get a parking spot in the street before you enter the park. Overall a nice place to visit if you’re in Maui

Pretty crowded but beautiful nonetheless. Nice mix of locals hanging off the paved path and tourists wandering for photo-ops. Definitely worth stopping by. The walk up is quick and the stairs are short so it’s a pretty easy trail. Wear sunscreen and bring water! It’s not suggested you swim but feel free to dip your toes in at the bottom. Spent about an hour here.

The hike up to the viewing area is like 3 flights of stairs. Super easy and quick, we got there are 5:20 and were able to rush through and leave 5 before 6 pm, when the park closes— and you must leave before then. To stay later I think people park outside the gate. Looks very cool, and no need to spend so much time here

Just visited this park that just reopened. A little crowded but worth the visit to view the iconic Iao Needle and some other impressive nature. You can see the Needle right from the parking lot, so if you don't want to hike, you can take it in from there. Easy hike on the footpath with a slight grade, many places where you can get to the River, lots of families/kids wading in the water. $5 for parking, a good hour or so is about all you need.

It was a wonderful experience, it was a little scary because we didn’t know how far it was from the cruise 🚢 line. We took an Uber from the Baskin- Robbin’s across from the terminal walk gate it took 20m to the park and under $20. The hike is a little bit challenging as you walk dipper in to the island, good hiking shoes are a good idea if you plan to hike dipper.
