A little slice of heaven can be found here, if you look hard, and aren't carried off by the black flies and mosquitoes. Day use, camp grounds and remote camping. Horse camping. Group sites. Lean-tos. Remote means remote, canoe in, no sevices. Most remote sites have a lean-to. Bears, loons, moose, oh my! Call ahead for reservations. Ice and fire wood available for purchase. ONLY LOCALLY HARVESTED WOOD ALLOWED. Environmental reasons. There are ticks. And mushrooms.
I've been to a LOT of campgrounds. From Acadia to Green Mountains, all the way down to Kauai. New Discovery is one of the best, if not the best. It's open, easy to navigate, and has spaceous private sites. Everything is clean and well maintained. There is plenty of hiking, kayaking, and swimming opportunities. Super chill staff is icing on the proverbial cake. Highly recommended!
First, the good - Large, private campsites, well maintained. Reasonable, kiln-dried firewood, super nice staff and access to numerous trails right from the campground. The bad - NON working showers. Both were out for awhile, then the ADA shower was half working. If that gets fixed it is five stars.
Well maintained campground. Friendly staff and well spaced camp sites. Close to quiet a few hiking trails and a lake walk. Beautiful fall colors viewing area near the campsite. Campsites do have 🧱 brick walled 🔥fire pits. Few camping spots for RVs to part and camp too. Firewood available for purchase $6 bundle. Checkout at 11am.
Super clean and open campground with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Off the beaten path but close enough to civilization that you can head into town for dinner if you don’t feel like cooking at a site. But if you do, the fireplaces are some of the best I’ve seen: solid, large brick structures with large, stable cooking grates. Fresh water available in several spots and the bathrooms are nice! The best part is the walk/drive to the serene pond. It was so quiet and beautiful, I haven’t experienced the absence of sound like that in a long while.
