The lake is very beautiful with very clean water you can see clearly in.
Never been there and probably won’t go. From what I read it’s not camping friendly, it’s a long walk just to use the restroom. It’s not a good swimming lake unless you want to rock climb your way out of the water, makes it hard to fish from the bank. Looks like a place you wouldn’t want to take a family, seems dangerous
Cool place. Lake water is good. Good camping site and boating site. Kayaking is also an option. Fun place for summer tourists. Can enjoy everything for free apart from parking fee of $10 for each person.
Haven't been yet but would like to in the future when I'm in the area. It appears nice. However I'm doing this review to correct some information. The regular entrance fee is only $12.00 per person or $10.00 for Lubbock residents, while primitive campsites are $15.00 per night. It is campsites with hookups that charge $30 per night but yes that is in addition to the entrance fee. That does seem a bit excessive but is still not unusual for a recreation area in a region with scarse parks or public lands.
This place was convenient for our overnight camping stop but way overpriced for a one-nighter. $30 a night for camping is doable but another $30 for daily entry fees is piracy. The campsites themselves are oddly configured. You’ll scratch your head to figure out how to get your RV level and close to the power box. The water equally bizarre. Maybe that’s why we’re the only campers here? We won’t be back in any case.
