This small developed campground is a quiet area with picnic tables, fire rings, and a vault toilet. This site is popular for [rockhounding](http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd584624.pdf). Adjacent to the campground is a barren hill with a layer of exposed rocks, including the occassional agate. Please recreate with respect.
From Fairburn, South Dakota travel 11.4 miles east on French Creek Road to the turn off on your left.
Wasps are everywhere but still a great place to camp up to 14 days for free ... And Dave does a hell of a job keeping the place up... Play the chair game .. find it and hide it
Love this place. Dry camping, no fires allowed, no cell services just peace and tranquility!
Tent area has tables, pit toilet, grills and when allowed fire pits.
Cows on occasion may come through the grounds.
Roads in are like a washboard but go slow, you'll be fine.
We didn't stay at the campground, as we were headed for the agate beds. We did decide to return later in the fall because the camping area looked so clean and inviting. It's lightly visited and has a limit of 14 days, which is perfect for rock hunting in the surrounding area. The campground is beautifully maintained, surrounded by mature trees, and situated right next to French Creek. It is a long drive back into the campsite, but this assures a totally quiet and peaceful place to stay.
