Cool little camp at the bottom of Iron Mountain that we stopped at for lunch. The only issue is I kept smelling a dump station which didn't mixed well with my meal. It could have just been an issue during our very short visit and might have been cleared up immediately.
Warning: this place will cause you to long for a cabin in the black hills. The campsite has bathrooms, amazing staff, an on-site cafe, playground for kids, and the most tranquil creek I have ever seen. There are some awesome hiking trails around as well as easy access to Custer state park. The wolves Wakan Tanka and Akia were an added bonus and memorable for the whole family. (Ask Cindy to make them howl. Your whole family will be howling the rest of the trip.) The nearest town is Custer and is a long windy drive of about 10 miles, but if you dont need the every day comforts of a city, this place is perfect for you. I will recommend this place highly to everyone I know and WILL definitely be back!!
A great place to stay if you’re looking for a laid back camping vibe. Not only do they offer Hooks up, but they have a cute cafe and outdoor seating area. They also offer a play area for children. The management was very friendly.
I absolutely adored the place where we pitched our tent. Each spot has a picnic table and the whole property is in a meadow. Deer joined us around dinner time. Each site has a fire pit as well.
Definitely want to stop here and camp again. Just perfect!
best place in the world. wolves are my favorite animal and i got to meet one for the first time, totally my spirit animal. The wolves are extremely friendly too. the employees are very down to earth and have a ton of knowledge to share. the prices are reasonable and the items are all nature themed and high quality. the dogs that roam around don't bother you, and the people who live around the area are very friendly. the last time i saw the wolves, they even started howling. they're not aggressive at all and i think everyone should give this place a try. 5 stars! i'll definitely come back here when i get the chance.
