Located in the high desert (4500 altitude) of the Southwest. We have over 38 acres for you to use. We have multiple areas for you to RV boondock or tent camp depending on your choice of animals, star view, or mountain views.
We are a working ranch with 32 +- Equines (Horses, Mules, Donkeys) and a horse and buggy driving school.
We are home to nonprofit 501(c)3 called Equine Safe Haven in which we teach horsemanship, leadership and carriage driving to people, economically disadvantaged and other disadvantaged of all ages. In our driving school we use horses that were saved from going to slaughter. Donations to Equine Safe Haven are tax deductible. Come see all our Equines, pet and love on them.
We have water hydrants for your use located around the Ranch. We have a BBQ/Bar area with tables, gas BBQ and fire pit, we call "Shady's Shanty" for you to use. In Spring of 2023 we will open our new guest bathroom for use (toilet and sink).
We can accommodate any size RV up to and including tractor trailers. Most of the parking areas are dirt/gravel.
Note: In summer if you are tent camping you will need to be aware that we are in the desert and rattlesnake and tarantula territory. So you will need to take precautions ground camping in certain areas of the ranch.
We are 8 min from the Akela exit off of interstate 10. We are approx 17 min from the Deming exit off of interstate 10. There is a 24 hour grill with good food, and convenience snack store at Akela exit called Apache Homelands. We recommend that if you need to get food or supplies. Walmart and Peppers market are 17 + miles away in Deming, as well as other necessities and stores/restaurants.
Absolutely wonderful caring people who genuinely love and care for their animals, many of which are rescues. Beautiful views and interaction with all of the animals... please help support this worthwhile cause and place!
Love this AirBnB and we will be back! Ken and Katrina are super nice and just amazing to talk to! We lived every day that we stayed here!
We spent a night there in our class C RV, and they couldn't have been better hosts! Friendly, informative, and easy to like. There are options to participate in the farm chores or learn to drive a horse-drawn cart.
What a great place! It is awesome to meet all the equine (horses, mules, and donkeys), many of which they purchased from the kill pens just days before sending off to slaughter in Mexico)
They offer not only carriage and buggy rides, but allow you to help and get as involved in the harnessing process as you want! What a great hands-on experience
