The camp sites are great and we prefer this one to the mesa campground because it feels more secluded and there is a neat little trail that leads to the lake. Unfortunately it seems that every time we go to lake Roberts and stay at their campgrounds, there is at least one group of people who are playing music, partying, and generally making a nuisance of themselves. It always detracts from our outdoor experience. I first started visiting this campground when I was in the 4th grade and I have many pleasant memories of it, but it just seems that people these days don't want to camp to leave the madness of everyday life behind. Instead they bring the madness out to the woods with them, and effectively ruin my attempts to get away from it. None of that is the fault of the campground, so I give it 4 stars because it really is a pretty place to pitch a tent and spend a few days out in the wilderness. I would like to leave ant belligerent campers a negative 4 stars. 😁

Lake Roberts is one of my favorite places to visit! Do yourself a favor and don't go to a cabin. One of the best ways to experience this area is by camping. I've been coming for years and always have such a wonderful time!

The Upper End and Mesa campground are first come first served basis. Mesa has hookups for RVs and running water at almost every campsite. The Upper End is only dry camping however there are water faucets at both ends of the campground near the restrooms. I found the campground and the restrooms to be really clean. Well behaved dogs are welcome and of course there is fishing. One year we caught 21 fish in 2 hours!!

Don't forget to take some time to visit the Gila Cliff Dwellings and the hot springs!
