Located on US Hwy 26 between Ft. Laramie and Lingle, Wyoming; 5 miles west of Route 85, 33 miles east of I-25.
The owners are very sweet people. This is a solid place to stay with a group or on the way through to another locale. We have stayed twice. Pick a spot centrally located behind the main building and the train noise is reduced 10 fold.
This is a tough review, the park is the best in the area, but I think it could be better. Upon arrival Tom in the office was friendly and pleasant. Check in was easy, BTW, cash or check only. Tom let me have the pick of sites. All sites were grass but the grass was rough in most sites. While overall level I had to find the right spot in the site to be level. While I find ants in most campgrounds I found more here there elsewhere. I try not to park on any hills and that was difficult here. The hook ups worked well. The driveways were crushed red gravel, smooth and well groomed. Puddles did form during the rain but no big deal. Other reviewers mentioned the freight trains. I heard them too but not too often and not bothersome, but I wear earplugs when I sleep, and I slept well. Short ride to Fort Laramie, nice place to spend an hour or two. Gas a few miles away in downtown Lingle. AT&T wireless service was good, so was camp wifi.
This was an adequate rv park. Dirt/gravel throughout, full hookups level sites. Was basically an open field, with weeds and no grass. The people were great and friendly, it is either a place you stay when working in the area, visiting family or friends....or just passing through. Was close to the Fort Laramie National Park. Occasionally, a train would pass by, semi trucks were numerous. Price was fair, park was clean, few amenities. Would stay here again passing through.
Julie and Tom have amazing customer service and campground is very well taken care of. We stayed here for a month and have no complains. They always keep up with mowing even in your area. Beautiful and green everywhere with singing birds and little rabbits. The location is just perfect! Its not in town so you don't have too much traffic, but still less than 20 minutes to get anywhere! Highly recommend. They will take great care of you and your needs.
We stayed just one night while passing through and wanting to see Fort Laramie and Guernsey Ruts. Pulled in and our rig was swarmed by flies. They were everywhere on the outside of our motorhome - never been in a campground with them this bad! While setting up our rig and having to open the doors (as little as possible), our camper was flooded with them. Killed at least 30 flies in the first half hour and continued kiling them into the evening! Wondered if it was just the area, but we didn't have any problems with flies when we visited sites around the area. No animal pastures seemed nearby to account for it. Kids wouldn't even ride their bikes because of them. The next morning when we got up, they were all over the sunny side of our motorhome. Owners need to spray or do something about the flies.
Owner was very nice when arriving. Campsites are spacious pull-thru's with scattered weeds and sand with some grass - somewhat level. Roadways are gravel and okay. Had FHU and they were okay.
Bathrooms seemed fairly clean but dated. The two women's showers had no shower curtains or anything to give you any privacy! Just a curtain between the shower area and the toilet area. There was ample room in each stall to hang a curtain and hooks, but none there. No place to hang your clothes or towels. Would not use them due to privacy issue! No handicapped facilities.
Only dumpster is in the back of the campground near the mobile home - not near the front so you can get rid of it as you leave.
Trains do run frequently near the campground and blow their horns as they approach. Had fan and A/C running at night and did not hear them during the night. Didn't bother us.
Just seems like a campground that has seen better days and needs some TLC. Would not stay there again unless no other choice because of the flies and shower privacy issues.
