Overall we were really happy with our trip to Moose Hillock. Close to Lake George.
Pros: The pool was amazing! Really big and really fun, especially during movie night. The kids loved it. The cabanas to rent were also a really nice add on. The sites are incredible. The biggest we’ve seen (mostly camp in the New England area). They’re also very clean and private. Can’t even see the camper next to you. Big sites does mean big campground so walking around takes a while to get there. A golf cart definitely helped. The staff in the store and office were very happy and friendly. Laundry room was clean and easy to use with an app or quarters.
Cons: The cafe leaves something to be desired. They could have more seating and umbrellas to make people want to use the nice big patio area. The fire pits are weird. You can’t sit around the whole thing because they’re against the wooded side. So a half circle only. Luckily we had our small solo stove with us so we used that instead. Which is kind of a shame because it’s tiny. The pool can get crowded and needed a good skimming at times. No activities- I wish there was a little more things for the kids to do - a week long trip kind of needs things like that to break up the days at the lake and days at the pool. Wish there was ceramics or tie dye or something along those lines like some campgrounds do.
Overall really like this place and would recommend a family with kids to try it out!
I’m giving this campground a low mark due to the fact that our first night was without power on a sweltering night. Their breaker was bad. Had to come to the site twice before they admitted it was their problem. Said they would give us 20% off that night - big deal- and I don’t think they did ever credit us. Tie dye activity forced you to buy a $25 t-shirt which really adds up. Candy bar bingo costs them nothing because the campers supply the candy! Some of the roads were so bumpy it felt dangerous to haul our coach.
I have been coming to Moose Hillock since they were a small campground in New Hampshire. The campground has always been clean, the staff has always been great and there is always plenty to do. The owners are wonderful, kind and generous people and seeing bad reviews about them, I can only guess that the bad reviews are from people who drink too much and let their kids run wild with no consequences or consideration for others. I would recommend either Moose Hillock location to anyone looking for a top notch campground.
We enjoyed our time at Moose Hillock! If you are booking a site there, it's definitely for the pool... which is amazing! The kids had a blast, and were actually able to stay in because of how warm it was. I was disappointed they didn't do a 'swim in movie' during our holiday weekend stay, but they still had a great time. Shout out to the awesome ventriloquist who came. My kids are still talking about how great the show was!
The sites are as pictured. They are all huge and private, we really enjoyed that. I found the camp store to be overpriced and understocked. I spent $73 for three children's white t-shirts for the tie-dye activity.... wouldn't do that again.
The best part of this campground for me was the staff. I really appreciated that we as guests weren't constantly harassed at the pool. Kids were able to jump in the water, bring their own pool toys/tubes and enjoy the slides. There's nothing worse than getting yelled at by 16 year old kids all vacation for running/ jumping etc etc! Thank you Moose Hillock!
