About Campground

Overview

Twiltley Campground is the only full-service campground managed by the Corps of Engineers at Okatibbee Lake, a 11,000 acre multi-purpose recreation area in eastern Mississippi.

Recreation

With eagles and hawks in the area, families will enjoy keeping an eye out for these magnificent birds.

Water sports including fishing and water skiing are always popular on the lake; however, fishing from the banks also yields a good amount of crappie, bass and bream.

Facilities

With four boat ramps and three designated swimming areas, there's plenty of ways to enjoy the lake shore. Many sites have electric hookups and there's a pay phone onsite. Pets are allowed on a six (6) foot or shorter leash.

Natural Features

Okatibbee Lake boasts 4,000 acres of water surface in the Pascagoula River Basin. Extensive beaver flowages, stump beds and old creek channels provide abundant cover where anglers battle largemouth and striped bass. Summers are hot and humid, with temperatures ranging from 70 to 98 degrees Fahrenheit.

Nearby Attractions

Explore Chicasawhay and Okatibbee Creeks upstream of the lake. The creeks flow through the Okatibbee State Wildlife Area.

Directions

From Meridian, MS, take SR 19 N for 8 mi and follow signs into the campground.

We arrived after dark and were happy to find really level campsites! We didn't even have to unhook my truck and went straight to bed. The next morning we woke to find our site, #16, had a GREAT lakeside view. During breakfast, the ducks even came to visit! Folks were friendly, road were smooth and well marked, and our neighbors weren't too close to us. While we were gone by lunch and didn't explore the town or area, we enjoyed our night at this park and would return. AT&T cellular coverage was 4/5 bars on 5G, so streaming was fast and solid.

Absolutely fantastic. I went after the flood so there was actually no one there, lots of bugs, a small frog, it was great. Definitely coming back. Oh and the bathrooms? It was like I had a spa place to myself. Super clean, just everything was perfect in there!
