Nice little spot for a day trip. Definitely will be back and want to check out the camping.
Do pay attention to the water... lots of jelly fish between spring and summer. Husband did get stunk. But that's a risk at ANY beach or body of water.
This is a small camping and rental place next to Calvert cliffs. For a fee, it provides easy access to the beaches. We took our kids and we're able to play and have fun until we got rained out.
Exploring the hidden beach for sharks' teeth; rinsing oyster shells in the clear, brackish tide; building sand castles under a warm, sunny sky. The perfect afternoon in the perfect place. That's Matoaka Beach.
Great place tucked away right next to the Chesapeake. We enjoy hunting for shark teeth and just other cool shells, coral, etc. we decided to give this place a try and we certainly enjoyed ourselves. The price per person is $10 which isn’t too bad. It gives you full access to the public beach and a mile of coast line. We spent a little over two hours there and everyone really enjoyed themselves. I will say that I feel the Potomac is a better option if you are focused on shark teeth. That said we got a few and some cool shells. I really recommend this place of you want to enjoy the water and don’t want to travel the whole way to the ocean. This is a great place to visit!
Didn't stay at the cabins, just used the beach access. Great beach walk, beautiful views, and some good finds on our January excursion! Small per person fee, ample parking (though no one else was there at the same time as us that day), convenient access with easy walk to beach through a gorgeous lil bamboo forest with well maintained steps. Beach was great, finding teeth was a little hard with frost on the beach but we still found quite a few and a few other good finds aside!
