The recreation area offers two developed family campgrounds, a group camp and group picnic shelters. The group campsite can accommodate up to 50 people for tent camping. It is equipped with tables and campfire rings with grills. Accessible vault toilets, showers and drinking water are provided.
From U.S. Highway 52 at Ironton, take State Route 93 north for less than 10 miles to Lake Vesuvius Road (County Road 29). Turn east toward Lake Vesuvius and travel 1 mile to the recreation area.
The hiking trails are great. The boardwalk around the lake is in bad shape. The restrooms are decent but not a place you would want to hang out. Get in hold your breath and get out.
Always beautiful and clean! I enjoy visiting once a year! My favorite view by far!
I had a great time hiking on a couple of trails around Lake Vesuvius.I was not aware of how scenic this park is. There is so many things to see and do that there is something for everyone.
This is a perfect place if you are looking for wilderness, hikes, boating, picnic, trails, and beach enjoyment. The area is a little quiet but you will feel relaxed. I visited with my kids and I don't find any problem here. We spent 4 hours in this area.
