When you reach Loop 7 (formerly 317) follow the signs for the Texas Freshwater Fishery. Exit on FM 2495 East. When you cross the bridge turn in at the Public Boat Ramp sign.
My motorcycle riding group came to this location when it was the Marina Restaurant and were happy to see the location reopened. They did a very nice remodel and the food was very tasty. The catfish was not as good as the old place, but nobody has catfish that good from my travels. It was certainly good and all 7 in our group were pleased with the food and service on a Saturday lunch visit. We will be back again.
This is one of the most beautiful and well maintained RV Parks that I've ever stayed at. Very quiet, sirene. Great restaurant and bait store next to the boat launch. It's less than a ten minute drive into town for more eateries and shopping.
Stayed here for 6 weeks, and of course we hit the ice storms 😃! Great place to stay I would highly recommend. The laundry room, showers, and restrooms are very clean! Staff is extremely friendly, RV sites are large, right in front of the lake. Restaurant within walking distance, fishing is great, hiking trails also shopping very close. Reasonably priced.
Great location on Lake Athens. Service is very good. Plenty of tasty options on the menu. The pimento cheese app is very good. The burgers are cooked perfectly. The chicken parm has a lot of flavor along with the zucchini noodles. The steak fries may be the best I've ever had. The bar area is a great place to watch weekend sports!
I give this campground 4 stars because it is a well kept, quite, and friendly place on the lake. Only 4 stars because there is always room for improvement.
