"We had the most wonderful Thanksgiving weekend getaway at Koa in Rusk, Texas! Nestled in the heart of nature, our cabin provided the perfect mix of rustic charm and modern comfort. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a genuine sense of care from the staff.
The cabin itself was immaculately clean and beautifully furnished. It truly felt like a home away from home, with all the amenities we could ask for. The surrounding natural beauty was simply breathtaking, and we enjoyed sipping our morning coffee on the porch, taking in the serene views of the forest.
The facilities at Koa were top-notch, and we made the most of the various activities available, from hiking and fishing to roasting marshmallows by the campfire. The kids had a blast at the playground and loved the opportunity to connect with nature in such a safe and welcoming environment.
One of the highlights of our stay was the sense of community at Koa. We met fellow travelers from all walks of life, and the friendly atmosphere made for some delightful conversations and shared experiences. It truly felt like a home away from home, and we left with a renewed sense of connection and belonging.
The location of Koa in Rusk, Texas, was ideal for our needs, providing a peaceful retreat while still being within easy reach of local attractions and amenities. Labor Day 2023. We wanted to camp among the pine trees and were looking for something east of Houston. We found this KOA full of pine trees so we quickly booked it. We later find that it was between Dallas and Houston and was 5.5 hours away from San Antonio which was a little further than we wanted. We headed out in our 2006 Holiday Rambler and I must say we were pleasantly surprised when we got there. They have an awesome Salt Water pool as compared to a chlorine pool which was really easy on the eyes and skin! The pool is surrounded by pine trees which was so beautiful. The camp is so clean and the staff was so friendly. They sell ice scream and other necessities that you may have forgotten at home. We give this KOA an A+ and WE WILL BE GOING BACK.
We have stayed there for the second year. We have stayed in the Teepee both times. It is beautiful and I prefer it over a cabin. It was cold and it rained but we stayed very cozy and only a couple drops of rain came in. The park is beautiful in the fall with so many beautiful colors. Fun to hike and just enjoy nature. The staff there was great and they give free shuttle rides to Palestine for riding the train. We have been on the Polar Express ride and driving there would be a task in the dark on a winding country road. Dallas was our driver and was a blessing to have drive us.
