The park is located 48 miles northeast of Lexington on US 68.
We were RV camping. Spacious sites, and a relatively open, uncrowded feeling compared to most commercial RV parks. Things to see, but a small park with limited access to water (there is a boat ramp), surrounded by private property, and the adjoining US Rt68 is a major noise irritant. This may not apply to the resort hotel. Historical information from a small museum with a knowledgeable guide is there and worth a visit.
RVers should be advised that power cords and water hoses will require extensions. Our slot was flat but larger rigs or other sites will require some leveling. Dump station on exit at the end of the single loop.
Was a great place to camp, but we left a day early because. My chair fell over with me on it, and I bruised my leg! Didn't have it on level ground! Next time we go will get a spot with electricity!
Buffet wasn’t very appetizing looking and wasn’t fresh or well stocked. I understand they close at 3pm on Saturday, but the only option for food is buffet and it should be fresh and full until 3pm. The server was kind and prompt, no complaints with her. The food is the only issue and expensive for the quality of it.
Great place to camp. Plenty of attractions. Walking trails history. Did not get to go to the museum due to construction. Was also disappointing with the dog that constantly barked at the campground. They did an amazing job with the activities and the camp host was top notch. Bathrooms were clean and stocked.
Excellent staff! I stayed here immediately following a family tragedy, and they were very accommodating to both me and my dog Bella. The room was great! Very clean and quiet. I will stay again so we can check out the museum and other exhibits as soon as we can!
