About Campground

Kaibab Camper Village offers the ultimate camping experience at the Grand Canyon North Rim. We're the only campground on the North Rim with full RV hookups, and we can even accommodate big rigs over 40 feet. We also have tent sites and one cabin-style room.

The North Rim is off the beaten path, quiet and secluded. From Kaibab Camper Village it is only a 40 mile drive along the beautiful North Rim Parkway (State Route 67) to the Canyon rim.

Our campground is nestled in tall pines, surrounded by the Kaibab National Forest and adjacent to Jacob Lake and a beautiful meadow. Unfortunately, Jacob Lake is actually a pond, and there is no swimming or fishing allowed.

The nearby forest and Grand Canyon have great hiking and nature trails, and horseback riding is also available in the area. To learn more about the North Rim, you may want to attend the Forest Service's interpretive programs in their newly restored historic ranger cabin and stop by the Kaibab National Forest Visitor Information Center.

Rates vary depending on site.

Directions

At Jacob Lake, AZ, go south on Hwy 67.

After Jacob Lake Inn, go about 1/4 mile.

Watch for the blue RV park signs.

Turn right on Forest Road 461 (the first right after Jacob Lake Inn and across from Allen's Trail Rides).

Go about 7/10 of a mile.

Kaibab Camper Village is on the left.

Beware. About one third of sites are next to a dirt, not much gravel, road that made so much dust we couldn’t sit outside or have our windows open. Toilets are micro chemical small type you see at construction sites, three flush toilets and ONE shower are several thousand feet down the hill past the tents section. We saw mice every day at our sites. Management has a solution to problems, and be sure you see it on the front door of the offic — No refunds if you check out early. We did anyway.

Note: the staff were all very friendly and helpful( and the heavily pine covered sites were nice.

General area is forested and beautiful, and the park itself is pretty. It is convenient to get to the North Rim. The people were friendly, and the park was nice and quiet. However, the back-in sites are WAY too narrow. When we parked our pickup next to our trailer, we had to push the picnic table clear back against the fence, making it impossible to use. The pull-thru spots are much wider, but I requested a pull-thru, and I was told there weren't any available, even though some of them remained vacant during my stay. The tent sites were roomy, too. It looks like the back-in sites may have been bigger at one time, but they seemed to have added more sites, making them all too narrow.

My least favorite thing about this park is the check-out time of 10:00 a.m. In all my years of travel, I have never seen a check-out time earlier than 11:00 a.m. With a check-in time of noon, it just doesn't take 2 hrs. to be ready for the next visitor. For those of us pulling trailers, which take a fair amount of travel prep, especially when our travels are intended for relaxing, the extra hour would have been very helpful.

Lastly, the area is called the Jacob's Lake area, but it is in no way a "lake"! It barely qualifies as a pond. Don't go to it expecting to use a boat or kayak!

Stayed a couple nights in our motorhome. Very nice campground, nice wooded setting and quite. Pull thru site was a good length and wide. Maria is terrific and Steve escorted us to our site. The road into the campground was very packed dirt, about 3/4 of a mile. 50amp is not available. Would recommend.

We stayed at this nice campground for a whole week, at the end of June and had an amazing time. We can't stress enough how clean the hosts keep the outhouse toilets and showers. We were so impressed. They are all so nice and helpful as well. If you're planning a trip to The North Rim, I would totally recommend this place. I'm sure we'll be back sometime.

If you do stay there, you have to drive the 1/4 mile down to the Jacob Lake Inn. A true gem. We (our whole group of 11)were shocked at how amazing the food at the restaurant was and the gift shop and bakery was the icing on the cake.

It's only merit is 1 hour distance from North Rim. There was no warm water in 31 degree weather. The only warm water was in the shower room. I payed $2.5 for 5 minutes, but surprisingly the water stopped at 4 minutes, so there remained soap foams in my body. Furthermore the water pressure was too weak.

The toilets were vault type and in that cold weather the seat was icy cold. It was the most terrible experience to spend 2 nights at the Kaibab Camper Villiage.
