About Campground

Our South Rim campground is open year-round. We are located in Tusayan, Arizona, one mile south of the park entrance, on Highway 64. The Imax Theater, the General Store, restaurants, and shopping venues are all within walking distance.  We offer RV sites with either 50 or 30 amp full hook ups.  Tent camping sites are available without hook ups,  with direct access to hiking on the Arizona Trail.    Our amenities include coin operated laundry and restroom/shower facilities.

Directions

Directions from Interstate 40 (South): In Williams, AZ take the "Hwy 64/Grand Canyon" Exit heading North. Travel approximately 54 miles until you come to Tusayan, AZ. Grand Canyon Camper Village Campground is behind the General Store on the East side of Hwy 64. Take a right at the second traffic circle. If you get to the Park Entrance Gate, you have missed us.

The campsite has seen better times. The condition gives the impression that no maintenance has been done for 20 years. However, the price was diligently increased. Now it is in the best travel time to 25% occupied. There is only one plus point: the location next to restaurant, bus, shopping and iMax.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating!! The general store was right there in front which made it very convenient. In the same strip was a pizza and wings restaurant as well as a Starbucks. Located right outside of the Grand Canyon.

The positives: the manager was nice and prompt in replies, the restroom was old but clean and there was power on a February evening. The negatives: very muddy - they need more gravel, and the cost... 67 USD. Uh, are you kidding? We arrived late and so paid that, but in our swing through the states this time the cheapest places we stayed were also the nicest.

We had a great stay!! Watch out for Elk poop!! But how fun to have these huge visitors. Great food right outside the park. You turn right out of the park and head straight to the south rim of the Grand Canyon
