Perhaps the biggest draw to Ten-X Campground in northern Arizona is its proximity to the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Located just 4 miles south of the park entrance in beautiful Kaibab National Forest, Ten-X is a quiet, peaceful campground that generally has open camping sites. A nature trail weaves its way through the pine forest, and many more hiking opportunities are within a short drive. The facility can accommodate individual and family visitors, as well as large groups up to 75 people. Recreation The campground has a short nature hike that allows visitors to view local flora and fauna. Elsewhere, the nearby town of Tusayan offers horseback riding, helicopter rides and other tours. Many hiking, sightseeing, cultural history and outdoor recreation opportunities lie just a few miles away in Grand Canyon National Park. Facilities The facility is attractive, well-maintained and spacious. There are 70 single-unit campsites organized in a large loop, each accommodating up to eight people maximum. Each campsite accomodates one vehicle only. Additional vehicles can be accomodated in certain sites, but are subject to a $5/night fee. Single-family sites 5-13 are non-reservable and only available on a first-come, first-served basis. All other sites are reservable. Sites are comfortable with bathrooms, water and paved parking nearby. There are also two group sites. Group Site A accommodates up to 75 people. Group Site B accommodates up to 50 people. Groups larger than 75 people can reserve both Group Sites A and B. The group sites have picnic shelters, tables and tent pads. Due to limited water supply drinking hydrants are the only water available. RV's cannot Natural Features Ten-X is situated in a pleasant Ponderosa pine and Gambel oak forest at an elevation of 6,600 ft. Summer thunderstorms, known as the monsoon, can build up quickly, especially during July and August. Snow is common from December through March. Awesome “off-grid” campground! Beautiful forest with great trails. Lots of wildlife to see. Great location. Close to the Grand Canyon south rim entrance. The campground offers clean, composting toilets but no water or sewer connections.
This place is amazing if you want a large, quiet, uncrowded campsite with plenty of space between sites. No hookups but I'm ok with that. The cleanest park restrooms I've ever seen and only a few miles from the south rim entrance to the Grand Canyon.
Wonderful campground, very spacious sites and beautiful. Campground host very nice. Now the bad. Not sure where the other people who recently commented stayed but this bathroom was worst I have ever seen. Thank goodness for our toilet in our pop up. It was so disgusting. It needs to be dumped and cleaned. There are hundreds of flies in there due to the overfull toilets. The camp host said they are trying to get someone out here to dump. Unacceptable. Maybe the other ones around here aren't so bad but these are beyond repulsive.
Very clean! Squirrel loop was nice, had the most shade and very nice camp host. The yellow jackets at the faucets and flies in the bathroom were annoying but tolerable. Love the lighted path to the bathroom at night. Elk came thru the campground as well. We didn't see the coyote but heard him a few nights.
(October 23)
Just like most campers at Ten-X, we were forced to camp here due to the campgrounds on the South Rim not being available due to the high demand.. in MID-OCTOBER.
Clean outhouses (toilets), however there is no light anywhere on this CG and there’s no sink either, so bring a flashlight.
Very quiet location, not many other campers (on a Saturday). Fireplace available. $20 for a regular site, has to be paid with the yellow envelope when entering the park; you’ll have to go all the way back to pay because the ranger doesn’t come around often. QR-code to pay only works during the season, so in our case they already deactivated the QR-codes since they only extended it for a month 1/2. No cash = no way to pay.
