It's a pretty small campground with the basics. It's not really too exciting for our small kids. It is a very quiet place. We enjoyed the short hiking trails, but they were not very well care for. Tiny playground for kids, my child lost interest after 5 minutes.

Very clean and well taken care of. Great staff and a nice new building with updated public restrooms.

Had my husband's side family reunion there, and it was very nice. This was maybe the 8th year that we have had it there, and every year, they have shown progress. Thus year I did not drive all the way around the lake, like I usually do, but WOW! the work they are doing up around the beach parking lot area is a huge building. Not sure what it is going to be, but it is sure big.

Benton County, keep up the continuing progress, it looks great.

Loved this park! Went for a day of fishing and our time there did not disappoint! Caught one of the biggest Crappies we'd ever seen and hub "almost" caught a 3 lb catfish, it was huge!

Also watched a huge Northern Water Snake, lots and lots of gorgeous Indigo Blues, bank swallows, and many geese families with their little bundles of fluff babies, so fun to watch. Oh yes, and one turtle on a log I happened upon but he dove into the water too quick for me to identify.

Park is clean, bathrooms are pristine. Two nice fishing piers makes it so easy to fish without getting in the weeds AND they are handicapped accessible with special concrete sidewalks that come out right next to a van door. So far, this is the first one I have seen in Iowa.

Highly recommended!

This place is on its way to being 5 stars. I hadn't seen this place for 26 years due to moving away from the area. Before I moved away, I frequented the beach here nearly every day & camped here a handful of times. Since I was there last, the park has gotten or at least seems to have gotten much larger & more campsites have been added & you can now drive all the way around the lake instead of having to access both entrances at the front of the park. I was disappointed to see that the beach area has been cut in half as a well as the roped off area where you are aloud to swim. The parking for the beach has also been cut down to 1/3 the size it used to be & there is a large steel building going up where you once used to park & where the shower house used to be. The park is kept up pretty nice throughout the park. A building has been added on the campground host site & it is being used to house a fridge & chest freezer where they are going to sell ice, & firewood. The host is positioned right across from the beach & last time I was there, this was not here. I was happy to see there is a campground host at this park now. It is so nice that this position has been added too. Always there to help & answer any questions that campers may have. This park is more beautiful than I remember it being ever so Great Work Guy's & Host.
