Lake Iowa Park offers a quiet, safe and beautifully-maintained campground that includes 120 rocked pads with electricity, shower houses and a dump station. There are water hydrants with rural water spread throughout the campground to fill your camper tanks. There are two non-electric areas suitable for tents which are within a short walk to the shower house. Currently there are no reservations for camping, it is all first come first served.
2 cabins are available for rent. Each cabin has a full kitchen and ADA compliant bathroom and will sleep 8 people.
Directions to Lake Iowa Park:
1. Exit 211 off of Interstate I-80
2. Head South towards Millersburg
3. Follow the brown Lake Iowa Park signs (at the four way stop, 230th street, turn west then go until the next available left which will be G Ave and we are about 3 miles on the east side of the road).
Tent camped there two weekends in a row while traveling through the area. It's a very nice campground just a short trip off the highway that has a beach, boat launch, playgrounds, and free showers. Tent lots could have been a bit more level, but they are still very usable. All sites are very reasonably priced.
I'm still wondering if there is a tent site A. Stayed at B & C. B was a little bigger, but neither was bad. C would be better for a group, but I had the whole thing to myself. Each tent "site" has multiple lots you can set a tent up at.
Photos are from both sites.
The cabin was very nice but you better bring your own sheets and blankets for the beds as well as towels for the shower. Also, the website says you can rent a boat but it turns out that you can’t and we would have known this ahead of time if they would have EVER answered the phone or returned ANY of the three voicemails my fiancé left. The whole reason we wanted to go there was to rent a boat and take my daughter fishing. Very nice cabin but very disappointing fishing from the shore.
Stayed in the cabins. Beautiful view of the lake. Quiet, fire pit,, antique charcoal grill.. But bring all your bedding and towels. And ice, no trays.
Enjoy a scenic and nice hike around a lake while playing this disc golf course. Some of the fairways are a bit tight with high and thick grass/flowers lining the sides, but searching for a brightly colored disc in them was not too difficult. Just ensure to keep discs out of the rough. Saw numerous wild raspberry vines (past fruiting season) throughout some of the holes, so I would say this is a great place to visit in early July for easy pickings.
A beautiful county park. We stayed in a cabin. It was very nice inside beautiful wood. We loved the covered porch and spent many hours there visiting with friends. There was almost always a breeze and we overlooked the lake. We went kayaking. There does seem to be quite a bit of tangled weeds in the water. There is also a lovely nature center especially fun for kids. Some trails to walk. Very relaxing except the bed wasn't too comfortable.
