Buyer beware! This is advertised as a first come, first server campground. So I took an extra day off work and arrived at 11am, just to make sure I could get a nice site. Just as I'm backing my trailer into what I see as the best site available. I'm met by the camp host, asking me to leave this site for a bigger trailer. So no! It is not first come, first serve. Thanks guy. It's a good thing our daughter only drove here from Texas to camp with us. I'm sure she'd be disappointed if she had to drive very far, only to get turned away because her dad doesn't have a 40 foot RV.
I was however directed over to a row of campers that are a whole 8 feet apart. No thanks. I got there early to get my pick of the spacious spots, only to be asked to leave that spot to save it for a bigger rig. I made the reservation 2 months prior. We looked forward to camping there for 8 weeks. What a let down! We will definitely not be returning! And as for Thousand Trails, if this is how they treat people that just camp on the weekend instead having that lifestyle, we will not be renewing our membership. We will see if we're treated any better at the KOA. So very disappointed in Thousand Trails.
This campground has great private bathrooms. It's honestly their highlight. The lodge has WiFi as well. And a soda machine. They offer ice and ice cream for sale. There are basketball hoops and nice green grassy areas for dogs. The sites are very tight and close together however. I watched multiple people scratch up their rigs getting in and out from the low hanging trees. The sites are not very level either. And most won't fit bigger rigs. There is NO DUMP here. Not even just at each site, but for the entire park. It's honestly the biggest thing this park needs.
We love it at Friday Creek...the managers are so nice and accommodating. The grounds are clean and well taken care of. The only disadvantages are no dump station or regular bathrooms. But the clubhouse has showers and is very nice. Any special activities-a pool, large games, even a laundry are just a short distance to the Mount Vernon Camp.
This is a very pretty quiet, small campground next to a great little creek. However, 60 dollars a night is a lot of money for just electricity. No water at your site because of problems right now, but there is water available. Wifi in the lodge. Some sites on grass, some on gravel. Just a few large sites.
Most are under 30 ft. Bad cell reception with Verizon. No dump. It would be a five star place with a few improvements to match the cost or a lower cost. The bathrooms are very nice and super clean.
Can't say enough about this cute thousand trails sister site. The amenities are what you expect but the crowd is much less and the staff is super friendly.
