About Campground

We have 20 acres of dense, rural forestry we'd love to share with you!

Our intention is to provide a camping experience where you are close enough to the highway (10.7 miles from Interstate 5) to get here and home quickly, but far enough away so you can forget about the the real world and just spend some time admiring nature under the 40 year old cedars and maples.

We have 4 sites available:

Kalivan Cove (Glamping) - HUGE private campsite with a 13.5' canvas bell tent with a queen sized double-height inflatable mattress, soft, comfortable bed linens, and camping themed decor. 8'x8' reclaimed wood deck with patio set, picnic table with lantern hook, blanketed with cedar chips.

Between Two Ferns (Premium Site) - cedar chips, picnic table, accommodates a tent maximum 8x10 feet with room to spare!

Fern Gully (Private + Premium Site) - cedar chips, picnic table, accommodates a tent up to 8x10 feet with room to spare!

OnlyFerns (Private + Primitive Site) - a large clearing surrounded by lush PNW forestry.

Situated just north of the small logging town, Sedro-Woolley, Cedar Groves Rural Campground is close enough to town (3 miles) to provide easy access to restaurants, grocery stores, small businesses, and more! It's also very close more natural attractions where you can hike, bike, or swim!

You can find seasonal fruit like Blackberries , Huckleberries, and Salmon Berries in abundance between June-September. Lots of wildlife roam our property. You will hear bald eagles, red-tailed hawk, and owls echoing through the trees and you'll see woodland creatures like deer, rabbits, squirrels, possums, and the occasional coyote (they are afraid of us, so you don't have to worry about them hanging around).

Cedar Groves is just a 7 minute drive to basically anything your heart desires. Sedro-Woolley is a small and cozy former logging town with an adorable and walkable downtown area with great restaurants and small shops.

We are also proud to be an inclusive business welcoming people of all shapes, sizes, colors, and preferences. We believe in open minds, open eyes, and open hearts. When you are here, you are safe and welcome to be who you are.

Directions

The official address is 4710 Moonset Lane. It's a new road at the end of Cully Road so it doesn't always show up on GPS. Drive to the end of Cully and turn right on Moonset Lane.

Dust & Road Condition:

Drive slowly. As you near the Moonset Lane, you’ll see signage indicating the end of the county road. The road transitions from asphalt to gravel just as you’re getting near to the white fence as you crest over the hill. Moonset Lane has many deep potholes. We fill them in throughout the year. Keeping your speed below 5 MPH will allow you to see and dodge any deep potholes. We want to be respectful of the neighbors and their pets by not kicking up dust with our vehicles. You also have permission to drive on the grass to reduce dust. Use caution as there are rabbits in the grass as well as ruts that will catch you off guard. Slow is best.

Animals:

There is a small farm at the beginning of Moonset Lane. The field is surrounded by a white fence. There are mini donkeys, mini horses, and dogs living there. Further up the road there is a small cattle farm. Please watch the road carefully in case any have escaped from the fence. This is a private farm; please do not stop and pet the animals.

Sharing the Road:

The road is a shared amenity between 6 neighbors. We ask if you walk along the road, only travel UP the hill back toward the gate. Please do not walk the road DOWN the hill. The neighbor down the hill is a bit prickly but the neighbors up the hill are very friendly. Please be pleasant and courteous to any other walkers and vehicles. There is room for two vehicles to pass on the road. Just pull off to the side and move slowly or stop and wait for them to pass you. If you are asked who you are, feel free to let them know you’re camping at the Van Pelt’s / Kalivan’s property.

Gates & Combination Locks:

There are two metal gates separating you from the campground. The first gate is shared between 3 neighbors. There are two locks on this gate. The bronze lock is ours. The second gate is at the entrance to the campground. Both lock combinations are: 5669. When you’ve passed through the first gate, please re-lock and shuffle the combination. You do not need to close and lock the second gate until you check out.

Annie: There is a sweet and friendly golden retriever named Annie who sometimes hangs out near the first gate. She is the neighbors’ dog and they have asked specifically for us to inform our guests to NOT let Annie follow you down the hill. You are welcome to pet her but if she tries to follow you, you can gently tell Annie to “go home” and point toward the gray house.

Locating the Campground Entrance:

As you head down the hill, keep an eye out on the left for a green sign with 7410 hanging from a tree and a white CAMP sign hanging on a metal hook. The gate will most likely be open for you, but if not, the code is 5669. If the lock seems stuck, or the numbers are rotating, jiggle it and squeeze the U shaped part up and down. You do not need to close and lock this gate during the day and it's optional to lock it overnight.

Parking: There are 4 (tight) parking spots inside the campground and one spot outside the gate. When you enter the driveway, pull all the way into the property until you see the porta potties. You will see an L shaped gravel area. Feel free to pull in forward in front of the porta potties and back in to unload your gear. When you are finished unloading, please pull your vehicle close to the side of the parking area so other guests can unload their gear. You are welcome to park here for the duration of your stay. If you have a LARGE vehicle (truck / van / large SUV) please park outside our gate. You will see a parking spot to the right (outside the gate) as you enter the driveway.

Property:

The campground is situated on the southeast corner of a 20 acre lot of dense, rural, Pacific Northwest forestry. We are wedged between two other 20 acre lots that are privately owned. Please stay within the boundaries of our property and do not trespass onto neighboring properties. We have colored ribbons indicating where our property line ends.
