About Campground

Doe Bay, once a secret gem of the Pacific Northwest, has a long, colorful history and a loyal group of fans and followers both local and worldwide.

The accommodations are rustic and charming, but the real Doe Bay experience lies beyond your cabin, yurt or tent.

It may be what you feel when you walk quietly to the tip of Meditation Point and stand alone, except for the active sea life playing in front of you. It may strike you when you return from a vigorous hike up Mt. Constitution and relax with your friends in the sauna or the soaking tubs. It will certainly happen when you eat a meal at the Doe Bay Café.

We invite you to visit and discover for yourself the remarkable, ineffable quality of this place.

Magic Happens Here

(We hear it all the time.)

It may have been a life-changing solo retreat, a reunion that transforms a family dynamic forever, a wedding that made their dreams come true, or a simple vacation of lazy mornings and easy days, but whatever the occasion, our guests say it all the time, and we believe it.

We invite you to visit us and experience the magic of Doe Bay, an icon of the Pacific Northwest.

Stay

Stay at Doe Bay in one of our cabins, yurts, or campsites. We have something for everyone on 38 acres of the most beautiful, pristine waterfront land on the San Juan Islands.

Dine

The secret is out: the Doe Bay Café, along with the Doe Bay Garden, has become a superb eco-friendly gourmet restaurant, offering fresh and healthy “seed-to-table” cuisine that is getting national attention and delighting “foodies” from near and far.

Relax and Renew

Hike our hills and wander our beaches. Get a massage or practice yoga. Meditate in your own special spot. Relax your body and mind in our sauna and soaking tubs. Connect with friends old and new around the community fire ring. Doe Bay is the place to unwind, retreat and renew.

Play and Explore

Home to the amazing summer music festival, Doe Bay Fest, we also spotlight some of the Northwest’s favorite emerging bands and host unique events year-round. And during the days, we’d love to help you explore all the activities the island has to offer.

Directions

By WA State Ferry

From I-5 take exit 230, which is about 90 minutes north of Seattle and 30 minutes south of Bellingham. Head west on Highway 20 to Anacortes and then follow the signs to the San Juan ferry terminal (view a map and get directions). Then take a Washington State Ferry to the Orcas ferry landing which is 20 miles from Doe Bay.

For the most convenience, drive your car onto the boat. Alternatively, you can arrange ahead for a Doe Bay Shuttle to pick you up (charge is $20/person one-way, when available). For early-morning or later-evening pick-ups, there is taxi service on the island to take you to and from Doe Bay – (360)-376-TAXI. It is also possible to rent cars on the island, with free drop-off and pick-ups at the ferry dock if arranged in advance – (360)-376-RIDE.

Once you arrive on Orcas Island, just follow everyone off the ferry to the left onto Orcas Road.

You will drive about 10 miles, and then the speed limit slows to 25 and a right-hand turn lane opens up. There is a bank with a clock tower on this corner. Turn right to drive through the town of Eastsound. This is a great chance to stock up on groceries, gasoline, or other shopping needs.

Orcas Road will become Main Street, and then Main Street will become Crescent Beach Drive. Proceed along Crescent Beach Drive, and take a right at the T (last gas station is on your left) onto Olga Road.

After about seven more miles, you will drive through Moran State Park (please drive slowly through the park!). Three more miles of driving and you will see the Olga Café, here turn left to stay on the main road, called Point Lawrence Road.

After approximately three more miles you will see a Doe Bay sign on the right with two deer on it.

By Private Charter

Also from Anacortes, splurge with Island Express Charters – the most enchanting way to arrive on Doe Bay’s shore! Boat can drop you right on the Doe Bay Beach, depending on tides. Recommended for special events groups. For more information and to reserve, call: (877)-473-9777 or (360)-299-2875

One of my favorite places in the Pacific Northwest. You can’t improve on the forested waterfront location. Great relaxed vice. I’ve visited numerous times over the past few decades. Stayed in a yurt on my most recent visit. Enjoyed breakfast and dinner at the cafe, soaking in the cribs, hiking nearby trails and exploring Eastsound. The rustic accommodations are great. Like camping with a comfy bed in a big tent.

Doe Bay has everything you could ever need for a weekend camping trip. We booked 2 camp sites for a group of 7. Stunning views of the ocean, islands, and mountains. Amazing customer service. Clean bathrooms and excellent guest kitchen. Going from the spa soaking tubs to a cold plunge into the ocean is the most magical experience. Can’t wait to come back and check out a yurt or cabin. We didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant but it looked amazing. We saw plenty of harbor seals and even some porpoises from our campsite :)

My partner and I had a lovely time in the Doe Re Mi cabin at Doe Bay resort in the last week of January. The cabin was cozy and had a gorgeous view of the water. The soaking tubs were divine and restorative. The open mic at the cafe was full of songs and laughter. I can't wait to visit again! Thank you, Joe and co!

Winter season is the time to experience some peace here, definitely want to experience it when everything is growing.

We stayed in the upper rustic cabin room, Upper Anada. Very cozy and comfortable, though I would not want to be in the lower room as the steps and floor makes a lot of noise.

The Cafe was very cozy and the bartender was very attentive. We came the night after the deep freeze and got great service, didn't order a full meal but everything smelled wonderful.

The spa has amazing views both during the night and right at sunset. There could be more control of the amount of people, our first night it seemed like a big group snuck some more people in with their code.

The shared kitchen had everything we needed and more. Plenty of space in the fridge.

The store was very well stocked and priced. There is a huge selection of locally made items, food and beer.

We hope to make it out in the spring, summer or fall if we can afford it!
