Nice spot with picnic table, fire pit, and bench. Just a few minutes walk to the river!
A great campsite to get away from everything. Very private, river is a quarter mile away. Lots of trails all around. 3 1/2 mile hike from parking area.
Great site with nice views of the wetlands to the north and river access just 0.3 miles to the west along a marked blue trail. Filtered water from the river was cold and delicious...love my Sawyer Squeeze! Fire ring and picnic table, make free online reservations prior.
This campsite took forever to hike out to... though we didn't get on the trail until after dark. But it was a beautiful hike (with the exception of the muddy/marshy areas) and the campsite itself was pristine! All of the surrounding terrains seemed to converge right at this spot. The Withlacoochee River is a short little hike (approx. 7 min walk) down the trail from this campsite, so water isn't a problem. It is tannic water, due to the cypress trees, and it has a little weird aftertaste to it... so you might want to bring a little water flavoring (like Mio or Propel) with your water filter. Overall, it's a great place to camp and free to reserve the site on the Southwest Florida Water Management District website!
