Gates open 8 AM to 8 PM. If you are arriving late, call ahead to 352-625-6312 for a gate code.
For an alternative, in Ocala, FL, take State Rt. 40 east 11.8 miles to County Rt. 314. Turn left onto Rt. 314 and go 6 miles to campground sign. Turn left into campground
The showers are cold. The road through the campground is filled with huge potholes. The signs around the park are falling off. There is nobody manning the gate so lots of cars driving by at all times. No car tags on any of the cars here. So you can’t tell who is who. There is no reserved signs on any of the sites that are reserved. We had to clean are own site to be able to use the picnic table. There is no water in the handicapped woman’s bathroom. The bathrooms should be cleaned more than once or twice a week. I clean bathrooms for my job. If my boss saw these bathrooms looking like this I would be fired. This would be a great campground if it was maintained better.
Beautiful place. Needs maintenance bad. Charcoal grills are dangerous. Huge pot holes in entire campground. Worst one in the entrance. So bad a 2' orange cone was placed in it. Traffic jamb for us.
At the time of visit it was a fresh day. Picnic area over lake was nice. Taking in consideration how old the park is restrooms were ok. This place offers the ability camp overnight. There were no issues at all. There are showers and water available. Remember to use a car capable of using park terrain. Is abit hard to find wood to make a fire. We really enjoy the stay and highly recommend this place..
Price to enter park is ok not cheap.. neither expensive. Fortunately reservations can be made online.
When we were there the only park ranger on site was very friendly
I was expecting to see bears, but there was none on sight.. probably they were sleeping.
To get inside this park don't forget to use main entrance instead of sandy no gate entrance. Also arriving early lets you explore park.
Fore lake seems to be family friendly and based on experience of neighboor they enjoyed a lot.
Please remember that there is noise from generators and dogs barking at night.
If you like peace and quiet places try to get a camp a little away from everybody.
Had a great experience here. Stayed one night in campsite #2. Nice spot with level ground for an 8 person tent and 2 trucks. The host was spot on and delivered the campground instruction just a little while after we arrived. Fairly quiet for a weekend…but don’t expect complete silence either. Weather was perfect and will be coming back.
