Posting this review on Sunday, November 22, 2020. If you plan on coming here today or within the next week, I’m giving you a heads-up that there’s H2O a’plenty covering the trail when you get to the south side of the lake at the GW7 marker. I was planning to connect through from GWA to the Flagler Trail this morning. But I’m not into walking through shin-deep swamp water when I can’t see what’s in there. I’m cool with working through some mud, but this is not my jam. Other than that, I love this place. Well marked and maintained trails. Look forward to coming back in a week or two if the rain holds off.

Attended Bones & Fossils Day. Had a great experience, even our teenagers enjoyed it! Definitely would recommend for hiking and learning about the wildlife in Florida.

Great area for hiking, although many trails are flooded at this time - see photos. I suggest wearing waterproof footwear if you want to really enjoy it.

Nice fishing pier when it's open. Unfortunately whoever designed and did the planning for this pier did a poor job. I've been going there for several years and it's closed 1/2 of time due to the pier being flooded. No hurricanes or tropical storms this year 2023 and I have not been able to fish there in at least 4 months. It should have been built about 1 to 2 feet higher about the water. 2022 it was closed from Sept to about April due to the hurricane in September.

Very nice, clearly marked trails and beautiful scenery! The trails aren't very long, but it's a great walk/light hike nonetheless and worth the trip. Make sure you go to the chapel in the woods (little red building and benches) as it has a lookout of the lake. Also, if you like to stop and check out the forest floor, there's a lot of moss, fungi, and lichen that seem interesting to study. (Make sure you don't remove them, though!) The different sections of this wilderness area seem to be populated with different types of mosses and you will see many on your walk. This is a perfect stop on the way to Little Big Econ, where you could spend the entire day 🌲
