Never put my reservation in the book. Found it written written on the back of a reservation page. But had a site available. But they don't take credit cards so I spent $2.50 on their ATM for cash. Site they sent me to was too small for my rig. Went back to office. They had 2 other sites available. Second site literally had 3 piles of trash in it and third site I couldn't back my rig in because because one of the full timers had put up a canopy too close. It looks like majority of sites belong to full timers who don't clean up around their sites. So much trash. So over grown. Really looks like a homeless encampment. Very disappointed. So went back to the office and asked for a refund. Woman didn't argue and gave me my money back. BUT not once ever apologized for anything.
GARBAGE in and around my campsite. I cleaned it up too, with NO thank you from camp employee. Tent camping? DON'T DO IT! Zero privacy. Used to be decent at one time but...
I swear some of these reviews are laughable. Let me address a few of these complaints. I speak with the owner almost every time I'm here and he has been friendly and helpful. There is a beach for swimming, a lake for boating and fishing, a game room, basketball nets, huge open field and some planned tournaments (cornhole, quoits, horseshoes, bingo). If you need more than that then maybe camping isn't for you, this isn't a spa resort. As for the fishing, I have never been skunked. Yes you pay but it's a few bucks. If you aren't catching fish maybe it's YOU and not the lake. Bottom line this is a great place with incredibly friendly people that camp here. We liked it so much we became seasonal campers.
We had such a great weekend camping at Evergreen Lake! Mini golf, peddle boats, beach time, a night playing in the arcade...we didn't get a chance to fish. Along with traditional campsite fun, we took so many memories home with us!
My reasoning for 4 stars instead of 5 is only because the entire place could use a little updating. The bathroom and shower area could definitely have more privacy -- you can see into the showers through the side gap in the doors and there are small holes in the walls of the bathroom stalls that could allow for peeping if someone felt creepy enough to do so. The mini golf course, though lots of fun, is off balance in many areas..kind of dilapidated in general (and there are wasps all throughout) and could use some upkeep.
Otherwise, it's a typical camping location. If you don't care about extra amenities, this place is perfect!
Great place to camp and relax. Lots have electric and water but there are primitive lots as well for the more outdoorsy folks. Toilets and showers were clean and laundry is available. The arcade and pool hall is outdated but still fun. The lake was great for swimming and tanning. Just obey the rules and don't be an idiot and you'll have a good time.
