Awesome place to hike and camp and the name sure fits, the water is a deep blueish green color! And the turning fall leaves made it that much better.
Amazing experience. Clear water. Not crowded. Good fire road to get there and then a very short walk to the pond. Definitely will do many more times!
A beautiful but tough hike if coming from New Market. This 8 miler is all uphill at first, parts rocky and tricky footing. From there its a ridgeline ramble down through dense pine groves to Emerald Pond. The pond is a perfect swimming hole with multiple campsites. More info at intotheyonder.com
Emerald Pond is beautiful and peaceful. You'll have to park a little way up from the pond and walk down. They have it closed to vehicle traffic but there is a very nice, wide, gravel trail to walk down. It is a pretty easy walk. Well worth the small little hike. Pictures do not do it justice. The water was crystal clear. Definitely recommend.
Lovely place but it's difficult to get to either by hiking a poorly marked trail or by driving up a rough fire road. Once you arrive you can swing continue to hike or camp for the night (the camp sites are first come only). You must also take all your trash back out there are no trash cans or restrooms.
