Chicago Basin is a beautiful place, whether you are here to climb the 4 or are just there for a quick weekend getaway, remember to pack out your trash and leave no trace!
Many goats, many marmots, many fallen trees. Did a 4 day backpacking trip from the Durango Silverton train to hike the 14ers in the basin. Lots of flies and mosquitos that don’t respond to Deet. Otherwise, breathtaking views, amazing hikes, beautiful waterfalls, and kind people. Worth the effort!
Took the train in to Needle Creek and hiked to the basin. Beautiful place!
Awesome Place to visit. Glad that train was closed, Basin was very empty. If you’re hiking in and out from Purg bring your big boy pants.
