About Campground

Alamosa Campground is on the Alamosa River 4.5 miles above Terrace Reservoir Dam. There are 10 campsites with tables, fireplaces, vault type toilet, ample parking and a developed water system operated with a hand pump. There is public fishing at Terrace Reservoir and trail access to Alamosa-Rock Creek and Big Lake Trails. Maneuvering space for large trailers and recreation vehicles is limited. Naturally acidic water severely limits fishing in the Alamosa river between Stunner Campground and Terrace Reservoir.

Directions

Directions from Monte Vista, Colorado: Travel 12 miles south on Colorado State Highway 15 (Gunbarrel Road). then west 17.4 miles to campground entrance. Follows Twelve Mile Road west to the forest boundary where it becomes the Alamosa-Conejos River road #250 and continue 17.4 miles.

It was a great weekend with a great set of camp hosts! The fishing was pretty good from the shore and the lake felt great! There is a great kayaking spot also!

Camp host was great, helpful . Beware this place attracts the telluride crowd, had a group that partied loud until 2 am each night. Law enforcement non existent so what do you do at 2 am. Bare bones camp sites gravel and picnic table. Boat ramp not busy.

Bit of a drive but a hidden gem of a spot. Lovely, has a generous "no wake zone" for kayaking and paddle boarding. Good fishing, nice trout!
