A wonderful park ! Peaceful location, fantastic panoramic views to the west, amazing sunsets. Close enough to Durango, yet far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet of the country setting. The cutest laundry room you have ever laid your eyes on. If you are looking for a nice place to stay for the long term, be it a week, month or even longer....this is the place. Very quiet neighbors. Not a lot of hussel and bussel. There are beautiful flowers, lovingly placed in unique containers throughout the park. Lots of shade too ! We absolutely love it here ! We have lived here for just over a year now; and it feels like home. You just have to stop by and see it for yourself !
I've been here over a year and I can't be happier. Great owners and as long as you follow the rules, which are basic, you're good to go. Both of them characters with stories and just good people.
The sites are roomier than most, open year round, and well kept. Clean and quiet with a little road noise from 550 but I don't find it to be a problem. Great views and the most moderate weather you'll get in Durango being up on the mesa. The park is just far enough out of town to be country dark and still be accessible to downtown easily.
If you travel in an RV and want to explore southern Colorado you can't do better than Durango RV Park for a home base.I spent May and June there and it was delightful. It's perched on a mesa overlooking the Animas River Valley with great views of the La Plata Mountains. Drive to Mesa Verde,Telluride, Black Canyon Gorge, Azetec, NM and other fabulous sights.
The park is quiet and peaceful, the owners interesting and helpful. Cotten has an amazing collection of antique tractors, buggies and old Dodge pickups while his wife Dawn is planting flowerbeds and decorating the place to make it more enjoyable for her guests.
It's a great place to hang your hat for a while. This was the view out my back window.
Beautiful property... except for the junk yard below and the owner's massive junk. Water is not safe and rusted water lines. Laundry facilities have rusted washers and are extra small ($3, if you don't mind rust!!) Main house, where mailboxes and (not private) bathroom is has a funky smell (like old people). Owners are rude and don't like women. Dawn told me that "women don't pay their bills" and "women complain too much" (speak up when things are wrong!)
Sad!!! Dawn and Norman outright lied to me on 4 separate occasions. They are unprofessional, pathetic, old grumps! I'm so glad to be out of there! Beware... especially if you are a woman!!
I will never forget how wonderful my 3 month stay was, for many reasons. The 9/11 attack occured one morning and I watched it on my tv in my trailer. Another memory was when I helped Dawn get a snake out of her house. Wow, that was one sneaky snake, but harmless. And the greatest memory was that one night every week Dawn and Cotton teach country dancing down in Durango. I had a blast, even though I was the slowest learner. Dawn gave me a hard time until I finally improved. I will be back to stay soon, now that I am on my third retirement.
