Access to the Weminuche Wilderness
Good trail with a variety of terrain. It took a while to get out of the prairie area though. Good views of the river.
Incredible place. Lots of access to water. Trailhead wasn't busy at all. Very gradual incline for at least the first 3 miles. Good options for a tent or hammock. Views are best on the way back out.
Lovely hike but probably wouldn't do again. 2500' of gain in 4 miles, and the views were pretty but not worth the drive (2 hrs for me)/ the elevation. The plus side was a lovely drive in, great weather, and not a single other person on the trail Friday April 24 2020. Saw some deer, and maybe halfway in some small aspen groves. We made it to the meeting of the Ute Creek Trail and the Brookside McCurdy trail. There was icy snow only at the very top, maybe 1-2 feet deep, but the trail was completely dry otherwise and I could have done it in sneakers.
I really don't understand the bad reviews because of bad weather 🤨🙄, is like complaining to mother nature. Anyway this is such beautiful and challenging hike, getting to the summit is so majestic with all the rock formations at 🦬 peak, I really had a great time and this makes me love Colorado even more.
