Great hike for moderate short distance with great views and always cool weather.
What a breathtakingly beautiful view from atop the Knob! It's worth the hike. During peak season finding parking may be difficult (recommend going during the week, or arriving early). We parked at the very end of the road and took the trail through the balsam patch up to the top. Enjoy 360-views from the top. You can backcountry camp on the knob as well. After you finish this hike, scoot on down the road to Graveyard Fields and hike to the waterfall ... another beautiful hike.
Short relaxing hike to top. Once at top is a magnificent view of the mountain. Highly recommend to go and see the sunset.
Both parking lots were packed on a cloudy Thursday afternoon. As there was still patches of blue skies I scrambled up the trail to catch the view before the clouds rolled in and there would be zero visibility. By the time I got to the top the wind had picked up and the clouds were rolling in fast. Trail was very wet and muddy in many places. Still lovely though the extensive views were impaired and limited. I’ll have to come back!
