About Campground

Located on the Flint Hills Nature Trail in Allen Kansas, Basecamp Flint Hills offers camping at the gateway to the beautiful Flint Hills of Kansas. BFH is 20 miles north of the world capital of gravel cycling, Emporia KS, and 20 miles east of historical Council Grove.

Perfectly situated for those passing through on the Flint Hills Nature Trail or exploring world class gravel cycling, BFH can accommodate bike packers, cross country cyclists, gravel cyclists, hikers, and hunters.

Ideally suited for group tent camping, BFH has shaded acreage and a large communal fire ring. Two back-in camper sites with power and water are also available for those who prefer a bit more luxury.

Seasonal facilities include an open air cold water shower and porta-potty available April through October.

This place was great! Delicious water, tons of wood, shower, regularly maintenance, on the toilet. This place sets you up for success. Owner was prompt on the phone call. I would had stayed an extra day, but I needed to move. I could see families gathered here, enjoying each other, well, in this space.

Literally next to the Flint Hills Trail. Very friendly hosts. Clean and inviting. I loved the warm shower after a salty gravel ride. Highly recommend.

True to its name BaseCamp provided the perfect spot from which to explore the Flint Hills. 8 of us spent the weekend here, riding out in a different direction each day sampling the best gravel (and beer) Kansas has to offer. Easy short loops or longer tougher loops - you can access them all.

Amy and Darius couldn't have been better hosts and did everything they could to aid and inform our adventures. Basic but immaculate facilities including fire pits, grills and firewood.

A truly memorable weekend. Thank you Amy and Darius!
