We were in dispersed camping nearby and this was our go to spot to pay for laundry and showers! We were so thankful this was here! They have very nice facilities and a great store to get most of the things you need while camping. We found out they just recently changed ownership this year and were trying to see if they offer monthly rates in the very least during low season. We would love to come stay in our rv for the winter.
I normally don't leave bad reviews but I feel I need to about this place. I rented an RV site that on the website and on the booking page said that it was a full hookup site. That was a lie! The sites only have water and electricity and I understand the water being shut off due to it dropping down to 32 at night. They had a dump station but we were not able to use it because they shut it down for the winter and no one even mentioned that when we checked in. Now I have to take my camper to a dump station tomorrow and pay another fee. I have never had such a bad experience at a camp site especially since I paid almost $300 for the weekend. I will never stay here again.
My family and I have always booked multiple cabins. Even having family come to visit from different states and booking. Last time we booked there was so much snow we couldn’t even park the cars in the front of them. Therefor they were not ready. They called a plow. Said it would be appropriately 30 minutes. The plow didn’t show. We asked if maybe we could just get a refund they said yes since the plow was supposed to show up a while ago. 4 days later there was still no refund. I called they gave us only half. The lady I spoke to was very rude. Kept stating we shouldn’t have gotten any type of refund to begin with. I asked to speak to the owners. And still have not been contacted by them.
Really wanted to like this place more. Had a chance to meet one of the pretty recently new owners, so maybe they’ll correct some of the issues.
Positives:
-Great views/location
-Friendly staff/service
Negatives:
-Bathrooms and shower are pretty dirty
-Showers are coin operated (would prefer to have this baked into the rate)
-Laundry is ridiculously expensive. $4.50/wash and $3.50/25 min dryer (can only run dryer in 25 min increments). It works out to $11.50/load as dryer had to be ran twice for each load.
-Dump station closed in off season (this was advertised on the website, so we knew ahead of time but still a bummer).
We had a great experience at base camp! We went in February so it was cold and snowy. We stayed in cabin M. It was a nice cabin, though it was still very cold even with the heater on. So if you go in winter come prepared. That being said, it was still better than a tent especially with the heavy snow.
The bathrooms and laundry facilities were awesome and super clean. The cooking situation outside wasn’t the best as there is no grate over the fire pit so it’s harder to cook there. I’m sure in the summer/spring it’s fine, but our pit was surrounded with snow that we had to shovel out.
One thing we were surprised at is there is only one outlet inside, so don’t come expecting to rely on electricity. It still was pretty rustic camping just with four walls.
Overall great camp ground and we can’t wait to come back again!
