From I-76 at the Merino exit (Exit 102), go 1 mile north to U.S. 6, then 3 1/2 miles northeast (right) to the entrance and follow signs to the boat ramp.
There is parking below the dam for fishing the dam or hunting the sloughs to the east.
This campground is only free if you have a Colorado state wildlife permit OR Colorado state hunting and fishing license.

It's a beautiful place.
This SWA has many nice facilities. However, be aware that due to excessive need for policing, officials have instituted a (costly) annual permit requirement for access by those who do not have a hunting stamp. That's sad as bird watchers also like to use SWA's.
Had a great time camping here no running water but nice sandy beaches and nobody there
My dog had a great time we stayed for five days.
