Ashuelot River Campground is located in West Swanzey, NH off Route 10, midway between Winchester and Keene. From Rt. 101 East or West, take Rt. 10 South and follow our signs. The campground is 10 minutes South of Keene and 30 minutes East of I-91 (Massachusetts Exit 28A). We are also 30 minutes East of Brattleboro, VT, 30 minutes North of the Massachusetts border and 90 minutes West of Boston.
Awesome campground on the Ashuelot River. The family that owns and operates this place a wonderful folks. Bathrooms are super clean. Two grocery stores are close by, both on Rte. 10.
Canoes and kayaks are available to float on the river, which is very shallow and slow moving.
Great, small campground that would be perfect as a “base” to go mountain bike riding, or ride the Cheshire Rail Trail, hike Mt. Monadnock or paddle the many, many lakes and ponds in the area.
This is a fantastic and clean campground. It is well run and everyone is super friendly and quiet. The Verizon Wireless and ATT is good. You must follow the instructions on their website to get here - GPS takes you to a covered bridge in town that is 10ft high at best. We mapped it out before we set out and looked at the Google Maps beforehand. It is very well marked with small campground signs coming through town. This is a great location very close to Keene NH with lots to offer. We will be back again!
Another great experience at Ashuelot River Campground. The owner Rick is fantastic. Very friendly, helpful and accommodating. This is a very peaceful and relaxing campground right on the Ashuelot River, great for kayaking. It also has access to the rail trail for biking and in close proximity to great hiking. One of our favorite go to campgrounds. Highly recommend.
Great campground bit strict on dog being on leach rules BUT that's their rules and is what it is. Nice level sites, everyone who worked there was nice, few complaints on here about owner but i felt he was nice and fair, was good to talk with. Bathrooms and facilities nice and clean. The only reason i gave 4 stars was due to the fact they offer nothing to do, so many campgrounds offer things for kids and events. This was a holiday weekend and nothing which if all you want to do is camp great but just making the point. We enjoyed our time there (even though it rained a good bit) and had no real issues.
Camp sites were clean well maintained. Quite peaceful with a friendly atmospher and super camp host. With canoe rentals to float the river just out our back door. FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE.
