This was one of the worst campgrounds we stayed in during our cross country trip. The bathrooms were disgusting. The showers were so dirty that I had to wash my hand after touching the wall while stepping out of the shower. The shower and bathrooms near our site did not have any working lights. When making a reservation, we were told they only had one site at $50 a night. Walking around the campground it was obvious that numerous less expensive sites were available. The only good thing I can say about this place is that the water in the shower was tolerably warm—stay away.
We have been camping here for a week each summer for about 10 years. The location is great for hiking, fishing, and swimming. We usually get a site on the Mad River which is great for river access for our kids and dog. It is a rustic campground without any activities...but it has a nice pool and a great field for playing soccer, kickball, or lawn games. The bathrooms have free showers...but are all very outdated and can get pretty dirty when the campground is full. The owner is receptive to issues and tries to take care of them in a timely manner. Good campground if you know how to make your own fun or just want to relax by the river...not for someone looking for a resort filled with activities.
Have camped at Goose Hollow several times in the past with family and friends and liked the campground. The owner runs it a bit unconventionally in that they don’t respond to online inquiries and they don’t keep records on a computer. However, we wanted to try and go during 2020 and couldn’t get in, but didn’t think much about it because Covid was affecting everything and many people were trying to get outside via camping and it was very difficult to get a reservation anywhere. Tried again last year, said they weren’t taking any reservations at all. Tried again a couple of weeks ago, put dates in we would like to have gone and it kept coming up unavailable. We were in the area this past weekend for an event near GH camping area (Campton NH) so I, my husband, and another couple pulled into the campground and parked at the office. This was on Saturday, July 23, early in the day. We went up to the door and knocked on the door anyway, no one answered, but as we turned to walk back to our vehicle, a woman came out of the house and very gruffly said, can I help you? Like we were trespassing or something. We just wanted to find out if maybe the website wasn’t functioning properly and asked if they were indeed not taking any reservations. She spat out a resounding “No” and said they were full. We looked around and there were many sites unoccupied. The website did not state btw, that they may have been seasonal only, but stated they accepted short term campers. We asked if they would have openings in the Fall and she again said no we are not. We felt like she was very rude and just didn’t want to be bothered, very unfriendly. They just lost some good business, we would have brought other campers to come too; we had been there in the past with a good size group(well behaved and quiet). The campground was always nice and we were treated well when we camped there, but this lady who we believe was the owner’s wife or girlfriend was rude and just nasty.
One of the cleanest and quietest camp grounds we have stayed at. We went with another couple and had a absolute blast! The sites were clean, the people were respectful and management was more than accommodating. This is a fairly cheap campground to stay at as well! Didn't have a single problem on our stay, and I will be going back for years to come. 100% recommend going to!
We stayed at Goose Hollow for 4 days and loved it. A very quiet and clean campground. The beautiful pool (with slide) and river access make this a great choice.
