This is bear country - beware and take proper precautions!
Located on the Killkenny Ridge Trail. Nearby site of former fire tower provides scenic views of the Mahoosuc Range to the east and the Kilkenny Range to the north.
Bunnell Notch to Mt. Cabot Trail: 4.6 mi
Seems like a decent enough cabin that can house 4 persons. I just passed through here while day hiking mount Cabot.
Never stayed there. Supposedly there are many mice in there, but I have not seen any the couple of times I have stuck my head in to look around. Was it rebuilt in 2021?
Bit rough around the edges but does the trick. Very quiet and close to the summit. NOTE: signage at the trailhead indicates that the cabin will be closed for renovations starting 5/31 and continuing into July, so make sure you plan accordingly. Can't wait to see the updates!
