About Campground

Abrams Creek Campground and Retreat brings you as close as possible to pristine nature. Tent sites are generously sized, spaced well apart, shaded, and on soft natural earth. Cabins are secluded and set into the forest. Even at full capacity, there is no sense of crowding. You are never far from our wild, whitewater stream. In some places, it is a constant source of energy and playfulness; in other places, it is peaceful and calming, inviting you to soak in its beauty. The forest offers a vast array of plants, and signs of wildlife are everywhere. We are not only a business, but also serve as an anchor for others who want to live more simply and close to the earth. The concept of rural revitalization means reinventing rural life so that it is economically sound, intellectually stimulating, and emotionally satisfying. Ask any of our staff if you would like to learn more about this.

We are located within 30-45 minutes of many major recreational areas, including Blackwater Falls, Swallow Falls, Dolly Sods Wilderness, the Youghiogheny River, several ski resorts, and Deep Creek Lake. Mount Storm (3 miles) has a general store, gas station, library, motel, sports and recreation store, and public park.

Guests are welcome to interact with hosts as they choose or be as private and secluded as they wish to be. Weather permitting, we have a bonfire most Saturday nights.

Our usual check in time is 3PM; you may check in anytime after 3PM until 10PM, or later by arrangement. Our usual check out time is noon. If you need more flexible check in or check out times, please contact us!Dogs are welcome!

Just wanted to follow up with the feedback that referring to this cottage as clean is not a fair representation. In addition to being entirely overrun by mice, it has clearly had neither a sweep or a bed linen change since the last season. Eg. Cutlery drawer had about 20 mouse droppings, bedroom had no bed nightstand or side light-Just mattress over boxsping on the floor; Tumble dryer does not work; mouse droppings everywhere; toilet paper gone hard from being left there for months and not usable.... Floor was partially swept but not scooped and in piles.

I think what you are building is great in concept, but the hygiene is sure to hinder your growth and return rate. We had to leave a day early as it was just too much to take.

Horrible place to stay! extremely dirty, mouse poop everywhere in the cabin, which was not clean at all, curtains all falling off the windows, no indoor plumbing you have to use a port-a-potty. I am an outdoorsy person but damn! And to top it all off they billed us over double the amount on the receipt! I sent an email and have not heard back. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!!

abrams was an honestly dreadful place to stay, i wouldnt go back if it was free; it was supposed to be a relaxed vacation, but turned out to be a nightmare. they charged us a $10 cleaning fee after we cleaned the entire area around our cabin- leaving it cleaner than when we got there! the mattresses havent been replaced since god knows when. the basement of the main cabin was flooded with over a foot of raw sewage. the smell was abysmal and the owners response to the concerns of sewage was that "we dont normally have guests go down there", in regards to the basement damn near overflowing. the heater in our cabin didnt work; the porta-pottys were not firmly secured, i weigh 190lbs and i was afraid that ours would overturn on me. on the bright side though, we had a large mouse in our cabin scurrying around all night terrorizing us in our sleep!

don't go there, save yourself the money and heartache

If I could leave 0 stars I would. My family rented 4 cabins on the property over the weekend and when I say we were disappointed that is an understatement! The retreat cottage which is the most expensive cottage on the property was not up to standards. The floors are falling in and very uneven. The building and furniture are so outdated it is ridiculous! We were told we would have satellite tv but the tv didn't work. But honestly that can be overlooked we knew we were coming somewhere rustic. The worst part of course was the 2 and a half foot of raw sewage toilet paper dirty sanitary napkins and mold that were in the basement of the cottage. After sitting out by the firepit on our second night we noticed a smell after further investigation we discovered the raw sewage we were sleeping over top of. We told the owners and their response was "sorry you had to see that usually people don't go in the basement". What an apology! He then claimed we were trying to extort him and he was unwilling to deal with people like us we needed to leave the property immediately because he had another family coming in to rent the cottage and it needed to be cleaned. After going back and forth about how he should not be renting it to anyone until the biohazard is cleaned and the pipes are repaired he insisted we leave the property even though the rules state that we had to be out of the cabin by 12 but had use of the property for the day. But that isn't the end there are BED BUGS in the cottage my family is now covered with big red welt bites. To the owners who claimed we were trying to extort them and that the over 2 ft of raw sewage with 4 inches of mold all over every surface of the basement were from my family being there for 2 days shame on you do better the public deserves to be as safe on your property as they are in their own home! Saying you didn't know there was a problem is unrealistic with the amount of sewage it has been there for awhile. I now understand why you said the septic was limited because the septic is obviously the ground under the house. As you can see in the photos they put a board down to walk over so they didn't step in the sewage to say you didn't know is a lie!! The pile of white under the cooler is toilet paper if it was from my family wouldn't the toilet paper be on the cooler not under it?

***Addition***

My family checked in at 6pm Friday and checked out Sunday at 12 PM the cabin is said to hold 10-11 people my group didn't have but 8 people in it 3 of which are still in diapers. The owner can say what he wants claim it is whomever's fault he would like to I also have the emails from the health inspector saying the campground has been in trouble more than once over the septic and other conditions on the property. We were there less than 48 hrs obviously the mess isn't from us the mold and toilet paper pile alone prove that. In looking at the reviews on Google and other sites it is clear to see Mr. Rios does not have the ability to accept criticism as he blames all the guests for them having an issue with anything on the property it is never on him it is always that something wrong with guest or something the guest did inappropriately. He takes no responsibility. We asked for a simple apology his response was anything but. As the inspector said he can tell there was an issue but you had it cleaned up before he got there so there is nothing he can do but make random check-ins. So congrats for cleaning up hopefully you keep on top of the issues this time but I doubt it just wish you had thought more of my family and our health and done that before we came.

We stayed here about a month ago. Cabin F. It was amazing if you enjoy camping. The location is gorgeous, owners are professional and friendly. We will definitely be repeat campers!! The cabins are a great way to stay out of the elements instead of ruffing it in a tent and you get your own porta john with a cabin stay. You still get to do everything else required for tent camping during your stay but if bad weather comes in you get a heated shelter. Highly recommended for quality outdoor time!! See you all very soon!!
