Beautiful Campground right on a beautiful river. We stopped there while motorcycle camping and it was great. Tent camping right beside the river! Clean bathrooms/showers and Steve was super nice! We plan on returning this Spring!
Please read BEFORE renting. We rented a cabin in July 2023.
Everything that others said about no music, no visitors, paying 1/2 of your rental fee on a card and then they want cash or a check upon check-in, the pool fee that is now $3 per person and should be included in your rental fee, etc is all true.
The male owner was friendly until he was questioned and in my opinion he then turned ugly and rude.
I went to the pool and was told by his daughter that there was a fee to enter the pool. I told her that I wish I had known about that from the info on their website or told about it upon check-in because I didn’t bring cash with me and would need to go get some. I came back and gave her my money and she said she would need to go get my change. There was a bag that she had laid on the chair she had been in that clearly had cash spilling out of it and was enough to give me my change. Along with my change she brought her dad back - male owner. I was already in the pool at that point and asked for my change - he spoke up and said “come get it if you want it”. I knew then that daughter had told him that I questioned her.
I told him the same things I traditionally to her and he said “I don’t have to tell you or anyone else everything about my campground. I said it would have been nice if potential customers knew ahead of time. He said “I don’t care about your $3 pool fee - in fact I’ll give it back to you and you’re welcome to leave. At that point I said I’m done with you and walked back to get in the pool. He continued to stand up there until the female owner showed up.
He seemed to have eyes everywhere and watched it all which I thought was a little creepy.
Ant problem in our cabin. The steps and railings at our cabin and leading up to the river area were rickety and splintering.
No plans to ever stay there again.
A remote campground location with a peaceful atmosphere. They had the cleanest shower/bathroom compared to all other campgrounds we stayed at and the owner, Steve, was very nice and accommodating. We camped right by the Potomac riverbank and it was so serene. I slept hearing the river flowing. You can’t beat that! Definitely going back for river kayaking and tubing. Only Cons: Our campsite was far from the bathroom area and no picnic table (not a big deal as it was primitive tent camping). Highly recommended for families as there are other activities that can be done in the campground.
Stayed off peak in early February 24. We arrived later than expected owing to traffic, but the friendly team were waiting for us and quickly guided us to the site. A really peaceful and relaxing stay with only a few friendly long term residents. Even in the middle of winter, the site was well maintained and clean. The river is fabulous.
