From the intersection of Highways 51 and 47 in Woodruff, travel Highway 51 north 6.2 miles to Highway M. Turn right on Highway M. Travel 2.7 miles to Highway N. Turn right on Highway N and travel 13.6 miles to Highway K. You will pass East Star Lake. Turn left on Highway K and go 1.3 miles to Statehouse Road on the left. Follow the road to the campground. Be sure to stay on Highway N, which jogs to the right through Sayner and goes to the left after Sayner.
We have camped up here for years and now the DNR has decided reservation only this year and you would think that they would have a large sign up. Read the fine print they have. And when we checked on the DNR website it said nothing and that was 8/16. Well they screwed up the population of the deer and turkey in this state by first the wolves in this state and now overpopulation of bobcats and birds of prey.
Quiet camping right on the lake. Very peaceful. Small campground, divided into two loops. Upper loop is tree-covered, lower loop is open to the sky. Both are on the lake but boat ramp and beach are in the lower loop. There is a hand pump in each loop to get water, and a vault toilet in each loop.
One of our favorites this year! Super clear water with soft sandy bottoms. Our site was on the water with our own access. Clean toilet stalls. Would highly recommend.
