From the Village of New Glarus, take State Highway 69 south two miles to County Highway NN. Turn west on NN to enter the park.
We had the most amazing 5am hike! From seeing the sunrise to seeing nature up close and personal. The trails were not all paved and even some didn't match the maps laid out on the trails, but that makes for more fun and adventure. Lol we had a group of four friends. We covered about 20 miles...we were out there a good 4hrs. I am GRATEFUL.
The state park has nice camping areas and a really nice playground and picnic area. They also have several really scenic trails. The only downside is that most restrooms ate pit latrines. Though they are clean. It is still a pit latrines. The park itself is beautiful, but could use a camp store.
Approachable camping experience, great for beginners.
Decent site availability, close to town for grocery runs, and practically no wildlife hazard (racoons). Even in lightning storms, we felt very safe.
Bathrooms are pit toilets. Clean water is nearby. You WILL see your neighbor sites through the trees and foliage. Walking paths are well marked, and well kept, and varied enough that they are a great stroll.
Excellent for beginners or beer camping, not challenging enough for seasoned outdoors people.
