Rimrocker Historical Society (RHS) was founded in 1966 by a group of local citizens wanting to record and preserve the area's rich history. It was incorporated in 1974 as a Colorado non-profit.
We have a small museum hosting artifacts of our area's natural history, Native American history, pioneer history and mining history. **The Rimrockers also maintain a picnic area and campground at the site of the historic Uravan Ball Park.** https://www.rimrocker.org/uravan-ballpark
In 2013 RHS purchased the historic Vestal House, in Nucla, that is presently undergoing a preservation project through History Colorado.
RHS has published many books and periodicals on the history of the West End of Montrose County, Colorado, and gives ongoing presentations and tours.
In 1916 we celebrated our 50th anniversary, and have launched into the future with exciting new projects. A new logo, brochures, self guided area tours, new books, a museum upgrade, and more programs head the list. RHS also received a grant from the Telluride Foundation to purchase Museum software for recording our ever expanding collection of accessions, photos, and records.
